Identity – the qualities, beliefs etc that make a person or group different from others. What qualities do you have? What do you believe?
The enemy comes only to steal, kill and destroy. It’s all he’s got. One of the many things he’s trying to steal, kill and destroy is our identity. He wants to steal our hearts from Christ, kill our passion and destroy our faith through this.
This world has provided us with so many options of who we can be. The Word tells us exactly who we are, there is no confusion there, the battle is fought with Christ in this instance. We make a decision to drown out the noise of the world and stay focused. Whereas, if we draw our identity from the world, there is confusion, we don’t know which version of us we want to pick. There is a conflict between the me that will please people and the me that will please me.
I just want to encourage anyone reading, know who you are! The devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness and repeatedly said ‘if you are the Son of God.’ Luckily for us, Jesus knew who He was, He believed what He was quoting. He did not even mull over what the devil was saying, He just came back with the Word because that’s where His instruction, direction and who He is, comes from. I believe the devil got desperate when he told Jesus he would give Christ the world if He worshiped him. However, Christ again knowing what HIS Father had in store for Him and that He should worship that one God alone, was able to frustrate the enemy’s plans to steal the victory from Christ which would have meant our death and destruction. So once again our identity is the qualities, beliefs etc that make us different from others. What qualities do you have? What do you believe? Fight for it because the devil goes around like a roaring lion looking for whom to destroy.
