Gems from the book of Psalms

Most of us have had an experience with the book of Psalms that has reassured and/or empowered us. Over the past few weeks I’ve been reading through this book and have picked up many gems. I’m going to share just a few and hope you are blessed by them and even encouraged to read this wonderful book for yourself. Yes it’s long lol but it is so worth it.

Psalm 21 vs 7: For (insert your name here) trusts in the Lord; through the unfailing love of the most high, I will not be shaken

Psalm 25 vs 4-5: Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me (I see this as a request for guidance so one can live a life pleasing to God)

Psalm 26 vs 5: I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked (But do we always?)

Psalm 43 vs 5: through You we push back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes

Psalm 46 vs 1: God is our refuge and strength an ever-present help in trouble (Even when we can’t seem to feel Him when we are in trouble, He is there, therefore we should take heart because it is not in vain)

Psalm 48 vs 14: For this God is my God forever and ever, He will be my guide till the end

Psalm 56 vs 4: In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust, I will not be afraid, what can mortal men do to me?

Psalm 61 vs 4: I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings

Psalm 68 v 19: Praise be to the Lord, to God our saviour, who daily bears our burdens!

Psalm 71 vs 14: But as for me I will always have hope, I will praise you more and more

Psalm 82 vs 6-7: but I said ‘you are gods, you are all sons of the most high, but you will die like mere men, like every other ruler’ (Know who you are in Christ of live and die like those outside Him)

Psalm 103 vs 8: The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love. (Perfect example of what we should also be)

Psalm 109: In my notebook I wrote beside it ‘when the devil tries it.’ In short, this whole Psalm is for when you are fed up but ready to draw for the sword of the spirit

Psalm 115 vs 1: Not to me, not to me o Lord but to your name be the glory because of your love and faithfulness

Psalm 119 vs 92: If your law had not been my delight I would have perished in my affliction

Psalm 122 vs 1: I rejoiced with those that said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord

Psalm 127 vs 1: Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain

Psalm 130: I believe this Psalm is particularly helpful when we are conscious of sin

Psalm 141 vs 3: Set a guard over my mouth o Lord, keep watch over the door of my lips

Psalm 142 vs 2: I pour out my complaint before Him, before Him I tell my trouble

Psalm 147 vs 3: He heals the brokenhearted and binds their wounds

There are so, so many more I could write but I would like each and every person to experience these gems and more for themselves 🙂
