So are we wise?
Wisdom includes learning from experience, having knowledge and good judgement (Psalm 111:10:The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!).On most occasions we may tick all these boxes but what about the days we put our Christianity to the side and ignore God’s presence to fight for our pride? What about the days we put pleasing man above pleasing God and forget that He can see all we do and hear all we say? (Proverbs 8:13: The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate).True fear would not be limited to days that we feel like it or days where its easier to show we fear God, it’s a lifestyle, a constant sensitivity to His presence and respect for it.
Fearing God equates to the starting point of wisdom because fearing Him is a wise thing to do. From fearing Him we will speak to and treat His creations with respect (our own selves included). We will listen to Him more willingly and follow His lead and direction without a second thought (Acts 10:35: But in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him).
Upon honest and slightly painful reflection, I realised I did not fear God as much as I thought, which would probably explain some of the nonsensical decisions I’ve made.Fearing God is not as menacing as it sounds, it’s simply having respect and being aware of His omnipresence and omnipotence. In one word its being in awe of Him 24/7 (Psalm 33:8:Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him).
