Who she was
Elizabeth was the wife of a priest named Zechariah and a descendant of Aaron. Through out her married life, Elizabeth had not conceived a child and human time was ticking.
What she did
She had faith and did not allow her situation to make her bitter. Elizabeth showed appreciation to God and remained humble.
Why she was amazing
When she finally received her child she acknowledged that the Lord had done it. Many times when we struggle and break through, we forget God. This only happens because we forgot Him through the struggle too. This may also happen because we believe that it was by our own strength that we were able to be victorious. She was a vessel of the Holy Spirit. She knew nothing about the conversation angel Gabriel and her husband had, yet she was able to give the name John. She did not worry about the pressures to name the baby Zechariah, she did not worry that none of her relatives had that name, she spoke as it was laid on her heart. How many times do we try to make God’s word in our hearts fit in with the norm? How many times do we try to normalise our gifts and blessings? God does not do normal, He specialises in the extraordinary. Remember this and walking boldly in it.
