‘You reap what you sow’
‘I don’t know where my money is going’
‘What if I don’t get it back’
These are some thoughts that have probably gone through all of our minds when it comes to giving. We are humans living in a materialistic world where money and other valuable possessions are worked hard for and/or are hard to come by so its understandable.
BUT!!!! THE LORD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER – 2ND CORINTHIANS 9:7
Nobody likes that person that gives them something or does something for them out of compulsion or as if its by force, adopt a nature of cheerful giving and it will prove to be a joyful part of your everyday life. BUT give with God and not yourself in mind.
The Lord we serve is so amazing that even when we are letting go of something and we feel that we now have less, He will bless us and everything that we lay our hands on (Deuteronomy 15:10) – although this scripture says ‘Him’ remember Matthew 25:40, everything we do to those less fortunate than ourselves we do to/for God.
Proverbs 3:27 this passage tells us to not withhold good from those it is due to, now this is not a free pass to be horrible to people that you think don’t deserve it, everybody deserves some good in their life, this may be in the form of telling somebody they did a good job on something, praying for someone, giving a heartfelt compliment and so on, whenever it is in your power to do good to someone, do it!
Proverbs 11:24-25 now I love this passage because it explains what the stingy and the giving are entitled to
You can’t sow apple seeds and expect mangoes, you can plant one tree and expect a jungle, act in accordance to what you would wish to get back. Treat others as if God was standing right beside you in human form. Sometimes we don’t give to others because we think that we wont get anything back from them, what about those times God gave you something and you didn’t offer up the praise He deserved or didn’t live in a way pleasing to Him, should He stop His blessings upon your life because of this? (remember He knows everything so He would have known you were going to behave in that way). Plus your repayment does not have to always come to you instantly, it may go to your children, it may come in the future.
Don’t give to receive, give because it is right and good 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
there is so much more on giving lol but this is just a taster hopefully you gained something from it 🙂
