Sex should be the joining together of two bodies to become one in love. Ideally it should be kept within marriage and it’s main purpose is/should be/from my understanding for the sole purpose of procreation as the bible tells us to go forth and mutiply. The pleasure of sex is also important (within marriage) and the bible encourages the married couple to fulfil their marital duty and the only time they should deprive one another is too devote themselves to prayer. (1Corinthians 7:1-9 and beyond if you want)
The media however shows us a different side of sex, it tells us that sex is meant to be used as a weapon, as a sale item that can be traded in return for money and fame. We find that we are in a generation where sex is glorified and ‘sex sells’….no it does’nt. What sells is low self esteem and lack of self respect.
The media shows us that all women must have a figure 8 body (big perky boobs a unimaginably tiny waist and some large hips to match) this sadly is how real women are built. Women come in all shapes and sizes and are beautiful in every sense of the word (well some). The media also shows us that men should be muscle bound hunks who will fight to the death for there woman and can perform all sorts of gymnastic routines to satisfy their woman in the sheets. If this were true there wouldn’t be a high rate of women going in for plastic surgery to make themselves look like a man’s object of lust and viagra wouldn’t be one of the highest selling drugs in the world and 1 in 5 men wouldn’t be impotent. This impotence may be a psychological phenomena (men aren’t getting the women they see in the media/are under pressure to create multiple orgasms etc) This shows that the media is showing us something artificial and not of God.
The media perpetuates promiscuity and the theory of “try before you buy” if you are unsatisfied and have an insatiable drive powered by lust at the age of 18 how do you think you’ll be at the age of 28? Proverbs 22:14 – adultery is a trap it catches those with whom the Lord is angry
Proverbs 25:26 – a good person who gives in to someone who is evil reminds you of a polluted spring or poisoned well
The influence of music: the banning of rihanna’s song s&m brought tears of joy to my heart. She is the epitome of why young girls will grow up thinking its good to prance around half naked and its a normal desire for one to want a man to dominate and even inflict pain on them to gain some sort of twisted pleasure. For those who don’t know the song s&m is about sado-masochism (google it). Niki Minaj has taught girls that sexuality is something that is no big deal and should be flaunted in an explicit way. If your a lesbian tell the world if you’re “bi show it off if you’re straight meehh you’re alright” is the message we are getting don’t be a product of the media. On to the men. Male rap artists especially portray women as objects that can be “cut loose” at anytime and replaced with another. Please remember the woman that gave birth to you, if your father treated her as a game of monopoly how would that make you feel.
Remember that our body’s are the temple of the Holy Spirit if you let anyone defile it then you have God to answer too. I know there is immense pressure on both sides to become sexually active at an early age but fight against it let no one despise your youth, once you have entered the world of sex your youth and innocence is gone you’ve become an adult and should be ready to carry that burden. God made one man for one woman but its us humans through our greed(media tycoons) lack of wisdom, temptation and much more have lost sight of that.
2Timothy 2:22- run away from anything that stimulates youthful lust follow anything that makes you want to do right, pursie faith, love and peace and enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
The devil is a liar and so is the media..coincidence? I think not.
